Notes from the Heart...Snow Sculpting Contest - Jackson NH!

Friday, January 28, 2011:  This three day sanctioned event brings breathtaking
snow sculptures to the Jackson Town Park in the center of Jackson Village, NH, a
location with lots of visibility, free parking and close proximity to lodging and
restaurants. Three-member teams begin sculpting columns of snow 8' high and 4'
in diameter on Friday morning and complete sculptures in time for judging on
Sunday morning, many working through the nights.  For more info: J

Feature: Fun Times at the Strand Theatre, Rockland, Maine
The Strand has been a Rockland (Maine) Main Street landmark since it first
opened in February 1923 to a sellout crowd for the silent movie

Italian flavors include pancetta, rosemary and garlic, along with the aromatics and
red wine. Take time to brown the meat thoroughly, and it will not only result in
great flavor from the fond in the pan, but it will also produce very dark, rich
appearing meat, a combination of the browning and long exposure to the
pigments in the wine
