Open Lighthouse Day in Maine

Mark your calendars: Maine's second annual
Open Lighthouse Day will take place on
September 18, 2010, when the Coast Guard, i
n partnership with the Maine Office of
Tourism and the American Lighthouse
Foundation, will open approximately 25 lighthouses for the public to visit and
tour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open Lighthouse Day is the largest event of its kind to
take place across the country.  Additional information on all of Maine's
lighthouses and a detailed list of the lighthouses that will be open on September
18 can be found at

This Week's Stories:

Inn Profile: Lime Rock Inn
The Lime Rock Inn, listed on the National Historic Registry, is a beautiful turreted
Victorian mansion that stands out as a graceful example of Queen Anne
architecture. It features two front parlors, spacious guest rooms and an inviting
wrap-around front porch, and is located within strolling distance to the historic
Rockland, Maine downtown and the renowned Farnsworth Museum.  The Lime
Rock Inn has 8 guest rooms decorated with a close attention to period detail.

Garden: Harvesting Basil & Other Gardening Tips
Harvesting basil, taking cuttings of some annual flowers, and harvesting produce
are some of the gardening activities for this month.

Recipe: Stonewall Farm's Turkey Wraps
An easy summer sandwich -- made with turkey and fresh summer vegetables --
for parties or picnics.
