Notes from the Heart...Blow-Me-Down Farm Celebration...

In honor of 125 years of the Cornish Colony and the
transfer of Blow-Me-Down Farm to the Saint-Gaudens
National Historic Site, the public is invited to
a community event to be held at the Blow-Me-Down
Farm in Cornish, New Hampshire, Rte. 12-A across
from the entrance to Saint-Gaudens National Historic
Site.

The event will take place on July 11 from noon to 4:30 p.m. and will include music
provided by the Heritage Brass Ensemble, speakers, a Blow-Me-Down exhibit,
and ice cream and cookie venders. Bring your picnic and a blanket and spend the
afternoon.

This event is co-sponsored by the Saint-Gaudens Memorial and the Saint-Gaudens
National Historic Site. It is free and open to all.

For more info visit:
Saint-Gaudens.

This Week's Stories:

Feature: Romantic Kennebunkport
According to the town's historical society the name is of Native American origin.
It translates from kini-banek "long cut bank," and refers to the "Great Hill" or a
grassy high cliff projecting into a large body of water...

Garden: Prepping Your Garden for a Vacation
Of course we’re not talking about getting your garden
ready to take a vacation, but rather to survive while
you take one.  How long you will be away, as well
as what kinds of plants and gardens you have, will
determine whether you need to think about more
than just watering.

Food: Hot Steamers
Steamed soft shell clams or “steamers” are a New England tradition, especially in
the summer. Their appearance is certainly intimidating to the uninitiated, but the
taste of the sea they bring explains why so many natives laboriously rake clams.
