Notes from the Heart...  Inn to Inn Herb Tour

Inn to Inn Herb Tour
White Mountains Region of NH
June 5 & June 6, 2010, 11 am - 4 pm

Several years ago I took my daughter on
a fun (but high caloric) weekend,
Inn-to-Inn cookie tour in the White
Mountains (read all about this yummy event
here).  This spring these same inns will host
a less carb-infused event, an Inn to Inn Herb
Tour.  You get to visit award-winning
beautiful inns, take home plants for your herb garden and savor tasty recipes.

Each of the 13 inns on the tour will focus on one herb and offer delicious samples
of one or more special recipe using the herb from their own kitchen garden. It
might be a taste of tomato basil soup, carrot-chervil dip, sage biscuits, tarragon
egg salad, or rosemary chocolate cookies.

You’ll go home with a folder of new recipes, interesting herbal lore and pots of
herbs or seeds to grow your own. The Northern inns ( Bartlett to North Conway)
will be open on Saturday, June 5th and Southern inns ( North Conway to
Chocorua) will be open on Sunday, June 6th, 2010, allowing plenty of time to tour
inns and enjoy delicious tastings at each stop.

Lodging packages range start at $178 per couple including two-night stays, herb-
themed breakfasts each morning and two tickets to the tour. Some lodging
packages will also include special five-course, herb-themed dinners. Tickets are
available in advance by reserving a lodging package directly from participating
inns. Those not wishing to reserve an overnight package may purchase tickets
between May 11 - 25 for $20 per person by calling 603-383-9339 or 800-233-8309.
Tickets may be picked up at 1785 Inn on Saturday or Eastman Inn on Sunday. For
more information visit
Country Inns in the  White Mountains or call 603-356-9025
or 800-421-1785.  ~ M.

exhausted and ready for bed. It doesn’t have to be that

Garden: Planning Your Vegetable Garden
Tempting as it is, try not to just buy and plant. To have a successful vegetable
garden you need to give it some thought ahead of time.  When planning your
garden consider the site, varieties, where they will go, and when you'll plant.
