Notes from the Heart...

Spring Ski & Stay Packages Packed
with Snow & Savings

It was so much fun taking our son
to our
local ski area this weekend
and seeing kids snowboarding
and skiing in sweatshirts and even
t-shirts (in the 50+ degree weather).
I didn't venture out -- but I did sit
for an hour in the sun and actually got a sunburn on my face!  Spring skiing has
arrived in northern New England!  And here are some incredible March/April ski
& stay deals from Waterville Valley (New Hampshire) condominiums and
lodges...

Ski for $17 & Stay for $17 St. Patrick's Day Special
Offered at the Black Bear Lodge and Golden Eagle Lodge in Waterville Valley
The $17 per person/night rate is based on quad occupancy in a one bedroom
condominium on March 16.  Skiing on March 17 is $17.  Of course, a Guinness
Party is also happening all day at Buckets on the mountain.

Spring It On Ski & Stay Family Package from $61
The weekends of March 26-28 and April 2-4, the spring savings at Watervile
Valley covers snowsports school, childcare and rentals too.  From $61 per person,
quad occupancy, the lodging is in a one bedroom condo or lodge room in the
Valley.  You also receive 50% discount on rentals, all day Kids Venture Kamps
and Child Care.

Town Square "No We're Not Fooling" Package
$50 pp/night Includes $50 Dinner Certificate For $100, two people can stay in a
one bedroom condo, get a $50 dinner voucher to use at Diamond's Edge North
and ski for $1 on April 1.  After a day of skiing, relax in a sauna or Jacuzzi at the
White Mountain Athletic Club.  Lodging valid March 31 or April 1, 2010.

Easter Weekend Eggstravagnza
Offered April 2-4, 2010, the Easter Weekend includes two nights condo lodging,
Saturday lift tickets, $50 dinner voucher for any Town Square restaurant, Curious
George story time, ice skating, Wildlife presentation, and 4 admission tickets for
your choice of family activities - basket decorating, egg coloring, Easter egg hunt,
and kids night out.  A full Easter Sunday schedule of events at the mountain
includes a mountain-top Easter Sunrise Service (skiers and non-skiers), Easter
Breakfast and Kids Easter Egg Hunt.  Prices from $56 per person per night (based
on two 18+ tickets/ two youth).  Sunday lift tickets are extra but Waterville Valley
offers a $12 kids lift ticket on Sundays for ages 6-12.

All of these packages can be booked online at waterville.com or by calling
Waterville Valley Central Reservations at 800-468-2553.

This Week's Stories:

Feature: Hiking Along Robert Frost's Interpretive Trail  in Vermont
The Robert Frost Interpretive Trail, along Route
125, is a one-mile loop near the mountain town of Ripton,
Vermont.  Because Robert Frost spent a great deal of time
in the local woods, the trail boasts signs displaying some
of his poems.  As hikers pause and reflect on his words
in the Green Mountain Wilderness, they connect his poetry
to the nature that was his inspiration....

Garden: Why Grow Vegetables?
If you already grow some vegetables, or buy fresh local ones, you know the much-
improved flavor over ones shipped from afar.  In addition to better flavor, some of
the reasons gardeners cite for growing their own vegetables include better health,
food safety, saving money, helping the environment, and having a better quality
of life.
