Notes from the Heart...

If you're looking for some travel bargains, head for the Northeast Kingdom of
Vermont (love the way they refer to their region as a "kingdom!") No, you don’t
have to literally drive up there – the bargains to be had are found online in the
first ever Northeast Kingdom Online Tourism Auction. This auction has over 170
items on the auction block, including some good travel deals including ski
passes, family passes to art centers, river paddle adventures, a private sleigh
ride, a hayride for 15 people, rounds of golf, and even lodging deals that include
one night, two night, even a whole week stay at a variety of Vermont Northeast
Kingdom inns, b&bs, hotels, campgrounds & cabins.

The auction is for a good cause – to raise awareness and sustain the agritourism,
geotourism and ecotourism to the area. I don’t blame them for wanting to keep
what they have…The Northeast Kingdom stunningly beautiful and unspoiled.

Check out the auction today (hurry because it ends July 6, 2009) and place a bid:

Ayuh, The Northern New England Accent in a Nutshell
As a very basic overview of the New England accent (northern New England),
you’ll note a few things — we don’t seem to have the letter "r"— it’s usually
replaced as though the word was spelled with an "a-h". (This, by the way,
happens only at the ends of syllables, not at the beginning)...
