Notes from the Heart...

I'm sad to report that our food writer, Charlie Burke, has hung up his spatula (or
ladle, wooden spoon, or maybe just his pen!), and will no longer be submitting
his weekly recipes.  His responsibilities at NH Farm to Restaurant Connection
and NH Made have increased making it difficult for him to continue his weekly
column. We thank Charlie for five great years of delivering wonderful food,
recipes and insights!  We'll miss him -- but he'll be making an appearance here
with the occasional story.  In the meantime, I'll  be filling in with my favorite
recipes.  But in the upcoming weeks, I'll be bringing you recipes from selected
b&bs, inns and chefs from around northern New England.  So, for this week,
here's one of my favorite family dessert recipes (and one that goes well in these
tough economic times),
bread pudding.

You tired of winter yet?  Sitting around by the fire losing its charm?  Take a walk!
Walking in the winter landscape means making discoveries that you would not
see at any other time of the year.
Take a Winter Discovery Walk!

But as you are taking that walk, be careful if you walk on frozen lakes and
ponds...they may not be as solid as you think.  Read:
Danger, Thin Ice!

The Frugal Yankee Tip of the Week

Look at your credit card bills carefully. Americans paid $30 billion to credit card
companies in fees last year. That is over and above interest, so they are zapping
you with late fees, over limit fees and more.
