Notes from the Heart...

When I filled my tank today I paid $3.77 a gallon for regular. Ouch.  I feel
fortunate that our small city is completely walkable and bike-able...which I may
be doing more and more these days.  There is something very fulfilling about
using your own human-power to get places.  I have started using our bike trailer
(the one we used to cart our kids around for fun) for the half-mile trip to the
grocery store.  I found a week's worth of groceries do fit inside the trailer...but the
ride home is a bit of a challenge.  But maybe that's what I need to get rid of these
last 10-15 pounds I need to shed.  Save money, get exercise, lose weight.  And
decrease my carbon footprint.  Not a bad deal.   ~Marcia

Celebrating the unique character & culture of Maine ~ New Hampshire ~ Vermont

This Week's Stories:

Feature: Vermont's Microbreweries
One of Vermont’s most important industries is the sale of artisan foods, novelty
items and fancy foods.  Among these is microbreweries—in fact, the state ranks
first in all the U.S. for craft breweries per capita.

Recipe: Broiled Salmon with Fresh Rhubarb Sauce
It was a good feeling to have chives and rhubarb from our garden as part of our
meal, and we were reminded how versatile rhubarb can be when used in savory

Honeymoon in Maine
We wanted a honeymoon that was different. We wanted to go somewhere
beautiful, with a beach, where there wouldn't be a lot of people in late May,
somewhere we could relax and really get away from the world and be together
after the hectic stress and excitement of planning our wedding. Of  course we had
to go to Maine
