Readers Write

Dear Heart,

(A reader wrote in response to last week's newsletter to my comment about the dull leaves
this year)..."
Where in New England do you live?   We had the MOST beautiful
foliage I can ever remember this year -- here in Gilmanton, NH.   I was so happy
to see such colors again as we have not had such a nice Fall in a long time.    But
then, Gilmanton is beautiful all the time - every season.   Come visit and see!!!"
L. from NH)

Editor's Note: I live in Keene, NH…the maples, especially, seemed a bit duller this year for
some reason.  Who knows why some areas are brighter than others! Anyone else out there
had a good foliage? ~ Marcia

Thanks for your letters, folks!  Keep 'em coming :)  Send your "Dear Heart"

domestic house cat. This is, of course, a physical impossibility.

decided to try poaching chicken at low temperature in olive oil. I have done a
recipe for chicken thighs seared and then oven roasted for this column, and this
high temperature recipe gave excellent results, but the moist tenderness of the
poached thighs and their intense flavor were remarkable.
