Notes from the Heart...

This week, Vermonter Ann Zuccardy wants to know: Are you a foodie?  For a
clue on whether or not you are, she writes: "Are you over the moon because
you’re sharing an amazing meal with your partner or a group of friends or
family? Are you mixing in a dash of laughter and a sprinkle of conversation
with your meals? Are you focused on only the meal and the company rather
than multitasking? Do you see food as not just necessary fuel for your body,
but one of life's great joys?"

Readers Write

"I live in New Jersey and have loved and visited New England all my 54 years.
As soon as my husband retires I want to heart has always been in
Vermont.  I really just wanted to tell you how great your site is & how very
happy I am to have found it!  It is very difficult to love something (or
somewhere) so much and you know you BELONG there but can't yet get there.
But now...I can 'get there' via your site!  Thank you for that, and thank you for
providing it to those of us who need our New England fix."
(a reader from New Jersey)

"I have lived in New England all my life.  Can't think of living anywhere else.  I
found your site as I was browsing for things to do this weekend.  I have a
motorcycle and love to drive all over to catch the scenery and other things.
Also like fairs, festivals, blues and just all that is New England.  Fall is my
favorite time of the year and can't wait for the pumpkin festivals..."
a reader from New Hampshire)

This Week's Recipe

White Gazpacho
By Charlie Burke
White gazpacho is less well known, but we seem to make it more often than the
traditional red version. It, too, is made with few ingredients. Served ice cold,
this silky smooth almond colored soup is an easy and elegant way to start to a
meal. Guests invariable say it’s delicious and then ask what they are eating.
They don’t have to know it’s a snap to put together and is actually better if
made a day ahead!
