Peanut Butter Mousse with
Blueberry Fluff Topping

What a great dessert and not just
for the kids. I devoured mine,
while the kids hovered over theirs
so I couldn't get within 3 feet of
theirs. Can't blame them I must
say.

Celebrating the unique character & culture of northern New England

Summer Kicks Off in the White Mountains of New Hampshire
Memorial Day is the highly anticipated, unofficial start to the summer season and
many of New Hampshire's White Mountains attractions are set to swing wide their
doors welcoming visitors to this popular New England vacation destination.

A Passion for Rhubarb
Not everyone is enamored by the sweet/sour taste of rhubarb in recipes (that
requires a lot of sugar to counterbalance the tart rhubarb taste).  But I love it.  But
before we moved to our New Hampshire home over a decade ago I barely knew
what rhubarb looked like, never mind pick it and use it in a recipe.

They're Back! The Dreaded Black Flies
If you live in northern New England, you know that starting around Mother’s Day
and ending around Father’s Day is black fly season.
 (As my youngest says: “They
must love to bite moms and not dads.”)  As far as I know, black flies (which are also
called buffalo gnats) don’t favor either male or female humans -- they only want
your blood.

What to Do When it Rains in Maine
Not every day Maine will bring brilliant sunshine dancing on the water. There will
be the occasional foggy morning with drizzle, which means no swimming or
sunbathing. If you're on vacation on the Midcoast of Maine, here are some
alternatives to sulking in your cottage or hotel room.

Moose on the Loose
There are approximately 40,000 moose living in northern New England. While it is
always an awesome sight to see moose, they are extremely hazardous if they
happen to lumber onto the highway onto the path of your oncoming vehicle. Here
are some driving safety tips when visiting moose country in northern New England.

Weddings at Sea in Maine
Maine Windjammer Association's sailing season, which lasts from mid-May
through mid-October, sees weddings throughout, and rarely does a season go by
in which a captain isn't called upon to conduct a wedding at the helm.

Start a New England Vegetable Garden!
Despite the many benefits vegetable gardens offer, starting one may seem like a
daunting project.  While there’s no denying that a garden involves a lot of work, it
really isn’t that difficult. The following provides some tips and ideas that will help
make your garden a success.

New Hampshire's 4 Grand Hotels
Many states would be honored to have just one grand hotel. New Hampshire offers
visitors four remarkable grand hotels, each with a role in history all its own.

"Must See" Attractions in Northern New England
Looking for a few “can’t miss” attractions in northern New England? Here are some
top picks for Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

Browsing for Book Bargains at Homestead Books in Marlborough, NH
I get cheap thrills -- grocery bags filled to the brim with used hardcovers and
paperbacks for about $15 a sack -- from Robert Kenney's Homestead Bookshop in
Marlborough, New Hampshire.

Maine's Birding Festivals
Maine has the most spring birding festivals in New England, with five events
taking place from late April to early June. Here's the lineup for 2013 ...

Bike the Whites (the White Mountains of New Hampshire)
For spring, summer and fall of 2013, New England’s best choice for value- and
environmentally-conscious travelers looking for an inn-to-inn biking experience
will once again be “Bike the Whites.”
