Hearth Bread
This simple bread recipe is a historic recipe compliments of
Remick Museum in Tamworth, New Hampshire

2 cups flour
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
handful of sugar
3-4 tbsp butter
1 egg
¾ cup sour milk

Mix flour, salt, soda, sugar and butter. Put in egg and sour milk and mix well.

Turn out onto a breadboard and knead it a little, then put in a pan and bake
To a nice golden brown in a moderate oven 25-30 minutes.
