Warm Fruit Compote

Thanks to the 1811 House in Manchester Village,
Vermont for this recipe!

During the winter months when good fresh
fruit is hard to find, a great way to start
breakfast is with Warm Fruit Compote. It
is warm, spicy and just perfect for the
colder months.

Warm Fruit Compote

Mixture of dried fruits        
Orange Juice
2 Cinnamon Sticks              
Water
3 or 4 Cloves

Put dried fruits, cinnamon sticks and cloves in pan.
Add equal amounts of orange juice and water to
cover fruit.  Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.  
Remove from heat and let fruit absorb liquid. Pour
into a baking dish. Can be refrigerated overnight or
for several days at this point.

Preheat oven to 350. Add additional liquid if needed
to cover fruit and add any small dried fruits,
blueberries, cranberries, cherries, at this time. Stir
and heat in oven until bubbly, stirring frequently.

Serve warm.  Leftovers keep nicely in the
refrigerator.
