Worth Quoting

"Truth is, you don't have to be born here or have any particular ethnic heritage
to qualify as a Yankee.  Yankee is an attitude."

~ Rebecca Rule (from her new book,
"Could Have Been Worse", Plaidswede
Press, 2006)

Notes from my back porch...

There are two types of people in the world: those who are packrats, and
those who are not.  Joe Bryant and his wife Bea, of Maine proudly admit that
they  have trouble throwing things away. But at least their hoarding ways
have created a museum with an amazing (and valuable) collection.  (That's
more than I can say for our household!)

More Stories This Week:

Mushy Vegetables?
Not This Thanksgiving!
"A friend recently referred to Thanksgiving as
“the holiday of mushy vegetables”, and,
unfortunately, this is frequently true.
Previous generations cooked vegetables
until they were soft, and this prolonged
cooking not only resulted in an unappetizing
texture but also ruined the flavor of many."
